Kenneth Wesley "Pete" Short was born in San Antonio, Bexar, Texas on 8 Jul 1947 and died on 7 Jan 2024. He was the son of Kenneth Oran Short and Betty Jo McGuffin.

On 3 Aug 1966 he married Gayle Dianna OHara. They had two children:

Brennan Dane Short (1974- living) and
Tracy Tenille Short (1978 - living).

On 14 Feb 1997 he married Maria Ataede.
